I have questions about registering for Blue Needs You 8K Run

Registration is handled by Zippy Reg, an AREEP company. Most answers to your registration questions can be found here.

When does online registration end?

Online registration closes 4/11/2018 at 11:59 p.m. or when 600 participants have registered, whichever comes first. Limited registrations may be available on race day.

Why is there a cap on registration?

We work in close conjunction with the Saratoga Springs Police Department, to ensure the safety of all participants, city residents and visitors. Registration is capped at 600 runners.

Can I register to run on race day?

There is a cap on registration at 600 runners therefore we cannot guarantee race day registration. Check back often or visit our Facebook page to see how many runners have registered.

Is my registration fee refundable?

In the unlikely event of a weather cancellation, your registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. Please know that your registration fee is a donation to Code Blue Saratoga that directly supports the program’s participants. If we have to cancel we will make arrangements to have you pick up the race tee. We will send an email announcement as soon as we determine the course is unsafe.

Why are you asking me to fundraise? Doesn’t my registration fee support Code Blue Saratoga?

Your registration fee directly supports emergency shelter services at Code Blue Saratoga and we thank you for choosing to support us through this race. Fundraising is completely optional. Every dollar you raise above and beyond your registration fee helps the organization continue their mission of offering restriction free emergency shelter during hazardous weather. Sharing your support of our mission with friends, family and coworkers helps us get the word out about these critical services, so we thank you for helping us in any way you can.

Share our GoFundMe page and let friends and family know why you “Run for Blue”

I'm not participating in the race, but I would like to help raise money. How do I do that?

Fundraising for Code Blue is easy and user friendly. Simply share our GoFundMe page with your friends and family on Facebook. You can also email a link to the page and ask friends and colleagues to donate.

How do I get the word out to friends and family?

Thank you for taking this step!

Asking your friends and family to support your run can be daunting but You are raising funds that will help individuals with safe shelter and a hot meal during hazardous winter weather.

Start by visiting our GoFundMe page. You can simply share the link by copying and pasting it on Facebook, Twitter and other social media outlets. Don’t be shy — remind friends you are helping us raise money. People get busy and tend to forget. Another great way to spread the word is by emailing your friends. Face to face is always best so we’ve made it as easy as possible to spread our message. Simply remember Go Fund Me + Code Blue Saratoga. A simple Google search will direct donors to the page. Don’t forget to tell your supporters why you Run for Blue.

What should I do if someone wants to make a donation to support my walk or run, but they don’t want to do so online?

We have taken the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of your supporter’s online donations however we understand some may not be comfortable making an online donation. If your supporter wishes to make a donation in your honor please have them mail it with the following information:

Why are you asking me to wear blue on race day?

When you register to participate in the Blue Needs You Run you are doing so much more than just competing in a run! You are providing safe shelter and temporary respite from the cold for adult individuals experiencing chronic homelessness in the Saratoga Springs region. Seeing 600 runners make their way through the East Side of Saratoga Springs wearing blue is going to grab the attention of non-participants and potential supporters. This exposure helps us garner the support we need to continue our mission. Wear BLUE on race day to show solidarity in your support of Code Blue Saratoga.
Don’t forget to be creative and have fun!

How safe is the course?

We ensure safety with road closures, and we work with Saratoga Springs Police Department, and many volunteers to provide adequate coverage throughout the course. Medical personnel are nearby in the event of an emergency.

What if it's snowing, raining or 90 degrees on race day?

Mother nature can be fickle when it comes to Spring in the northeast. Your safety on the course is in the forefront of our minds through every step of the planning process. We work closely with the Saratoga Springs Police Department and ARE Event Productions to ensure participants are safe on race day.

In the event of a weather related cancellation your pre-paid registration fee is non-refundable. Please know that your registration fee still benefits those who utilize Code Blue Saratoga’s services and we thank you for that!
